Before her debut, Karina trained for 4 years under SM Entertainment. She gained attention as a former ulzzang and was cast via an Instagram DM by SM Entertainment.

She made a notable appearance in Taemin’s 'Want' music video, showcasing her striking visuals and dance skills.

In 2020, she collaborated with EXO’s Kai for a virtual showcase between Hyundai and SM Entertainment, further establishing her presence before her official debut.

Karina’s family consists of her parents and her older sister, who was born in 1995. Her family has always been supportive of her career.
