In April 2017, during her third year of middle school, she was scouted by Starship Entertainment at the preliminaries of the 'Incheon Youth Dance Competition' and joined the company.

During middle school, she balanced her trainee life with her studies, even choreographing her own routines for her school’s graduation performance.

She was the only IVE member who shared training time with An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung.

Unlike An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung, she did not participate in Produce 48 and remained a private trainee until just before her debut.

Gaeul has an older brother (born in 2000).

At the beginning of her trainee life, her parents were strongly against it, and she often felt out of place, wondering if she truly belonged.

Gaeul’s uncle runs a wine shop in Seoul, and after her debut, she visited to leave a supportive autograph.

Her mother is known to be very straightforward, much like Gaeul’s famous part. At a fan concert, when she saw Wonyoung, she jokingly said, 'Wonyoung, I think you're prettier than Gaeul,' even with Gaeul listening.

Her name means autumn, however, her favorite season is spring.

As a child, she loved playing with Lego, especially building castles.

She likes reading mystery novels and watching horror movies.

Her favorite color is pink.

She believes that being 'alone' is not lonely but a valuable time to enjoy everything at her own pace in a calm and peaceful way.

At the time of her debut, she was the only adult in the team.

Among the members, she was selected as the one who most wanted to grow taller. With her relatively shorter height compared to the other members, she often becomes the subject of playful teasing.

As the eldest member, she is mature and kind, often noticing when the other members are struggling and offering advice.

Her emotions are very stable, and she has a rational and calm personality, with almost no emotional ups and downs.

She has a strong S (Sensing) trait, making her quite realistic. She mentioned that she finds it difficult to answer absurd, unrealistic questions.

She also has a strong J (Judging) trait, meaning she is good at planning and struggles when plans go off track.

Her motto is 'As happy as I am, I am equally unhappy, and as unhappy as I am, I am equally happy.' She explained that during tough times, she remembers this phrase and believes that happiness will come, helping her overcome challenges.
