Hyein

Hyein was born in Incheon, South Korea, and began modeling at the young age of 8.

She was active in the entertainment industry as a child, appearing on the kids' YouTube channel Pocket TV and being part of the co-ed group Play with me Club.

Before joining NewJeans, Hyein was a member of the group U.SSO Girl under the stage name U.jeong from 2017 to 2018.

She was cast by ADOR in January 2021, and previously trained under Source Music, auditioning with BLACKPINK’s 'Lovesick Girls.'

In her early schooling years, Hyein attended Inseong Elementary School and Munhak Elementary School but left school and passed the GED to focus on her career.

Hyein has an older sister (born in 2003) and an older brother (born in 2005).

She comes from a supportive family, and her love for spending time with her siblings and parents is something she cherishes.

Her male English name is Collin, a name she sometimes uses casually.

Her favorite Baskin Robbins flavor is Almond Bon Bon, though she thinks Mint Chocolate Chip is okay.

She dislikes scary things, particularly horror movies or novels, as they tend to linger in her mind when she tries to sleep.

Hyein loves taking walks, especially while listening to music, and enjoys taking photos of the sky and her fellow members.

She likes keyrings and has a large collection of them.

She also has a deep interest in Harry Potter and owns over 15 Harry Potter books in both English and Korean, as well as Harry Potter's wand.

Hyein has a very bright and cheerful personality, often bringing energy to the group with her fun and lively demeanor.

She is known for being emotional and has earned the nickname 'faucet' because she tends to cry easily.

Hyein enjoys writing letters to her loved ones for no particular reason, just to show she cares.

She loves talking with people and finds joy in having meaningful conversations. Her curious nature leads her to constantly explore new topics, making her the 'Maximalist' and 'FullOfCuriosity' member of the group.

Hyein became the youngest brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton at the age of 14 in December 2022.

She has poor eyesight and usually wears glasses or contacts.

Her favorite NewJeans song is 'Hurt,' as she feels it suits any mood or place.
