In his third year of middle school, Eunseok had no interest in becoming an idol. He was street-cast by SM Entertainment on his way home from school but initially hesitated to give out his contact information. He received four casting offers in total before deciding to accept.
His family was skeptical at first due to him shy and introverted personality, but his friends were supportive and saw his hidden talent. His parents eventually encouraged him when they saw his determination to debut.
Eunseok has been a trainee with SM Entertainment for about 6 years, starting in early 2017, making him the longest trainee among RIIZE members.
