Felix was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, to Korean parents, making him a Korean-Australian.

He was cast by JYP Entertainment in 2016 after receiving an online message, but he delayed his move to Korea until he graduated from school a year later.

He began training at JYP as a trainee in 2017, and after six months, he participated in the survival program 'Stray Kids,' eventually debuting despite initial elimination due to fan support.

Felix is close to his family, who supported his move to Korea to pursue his dream.
